From cosponsoring legislation to limit Elon Musk's access to sensitive data to speaking out on the House floor, I am determined to use every lever at Democrats' disposal to stand up to Donald Trump. 1. Decried Cross Burning in Grant Park
Today, Chicago Congressman Mike Quigley (IL-05) released the following statement on the cross burning in Grant Park:
"Ten days before Juneteenth, and in the hometown of Emmett Till, someone burned a cross. This is a despicable act of violence. The long history of using cross burnings to terrorize Black Americans is part of the darkest periods in our nation. It is the responsibility of every Chicagoan to not allow for anyone to accept this behavior and to remember that the original sin of this country still looms in the shadows.

1. Held Our Allies Accountable in Appropriations Hearing
On Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 10 am to 12 pm, at GENCenter (52 E. Northwest Highway, Des Plaines), I am hosting a Senior Community Resource Fair featuring federal, state, and local organizations providing services and information for seniors. Bring your tax forms and proof of identity to take advantage of the IRS’s free tax preparation service on-site. No RSVP is necessary, and walk-ins are encouraged.
