Catching Up with Quigley: Week of June 29
As we celebrate America's 250th birthday, I'm committed to building a future rooted in freedom, opportunity, and justice for all Americans. Here are three things I did this week to represent you.
1. Called Out Trump for Getting Nothing from Iran
On Monday, I joined CNN International to share what I learned from Secretary Rubio's bipartisan briefing on the negotiations to end the Iran War. In short, Trump got nothing from Iran.
As I have said before, no one is better off than they were before the war. Iran controls all global oil flow through the Strait of Hormuz, we don't have a guarantee that they are not going to make nuclear weapons, and everything is more expensive for everyone.

2. Fought to Reverse Jacked-Up Fees for Asylum Seekers
I also joined Congresswoman Andrea Salinas' effort to push back on excessive fees for asylum seekers. DHS just finalized a rule forcing asylum seekers legally present in the United States to pay extra fees. This rule also threatens the cases of immigrants whose asylum applications have ALREADY BEEN ACCEPTED by our country, if they do not quickly pay the fee.
As a leader in the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Congresswoman Salinas knows that profiting off people fleeing persecution is plain wrong. I'm proud to join her and dozens of our colleagues in standing up for our most vulnerable neighbors.

3. Signed Discharge Petition to Stop the $1.776B Slush Fund
On Wednesday, I signed Congressman Jamie Raskin's discharge petition to stop Trump's $1.776 Billion Slush Fund for J6ers and other political sycophants.
This petition will force Speaker Johnson to allow us to vote on the No Carte Blanche Act and block the slush fund for good. We can NOT write blank checks for people who beat up police officers and break into buildings.
