U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (D-IL) joined Reps. Luis V. Gutierrez and Jan Schakowsky, as well as dignitaries, Holocaust survivors, and diplomats at the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Skokie to mark the recent announcement by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton that the U.S. government would invest $15 million in the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation in Poland to preserve and maintain the site of one of the most notorious death camps of the Holocaust.

Today, U.S. Representatives Mike Quigley (D-IL) and Bart Stupak (D-MI) released a copy of a letter they sent to President Barack Obama, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and the Commissioners of the Joint Commission urging Canada to reexamine its oil drilling policies in the Great Lakes. The two Congressmen were joined by 20 other representatives in recommending that Canada institute a ban on oil and gas drilling in the Great Lakes, as the United States has done.

U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (D-IL) passed an amendment as part of the Consolidated Land, Energy and Aquatic Resources (CLEAR) Act that will require oil and gas companies to pay royalties on all oil that is leaked from a well - including spilled oil.

Mike Quigley (D-IL) and Bill Foster (D-IL) introduced an amendment that would prohibit any federally appropriated highway funds from being used to prevent states from enacting anti-pay-to-play laws. Pay-to-play is a practice where campaign contributions are exchanged for profitable government contracts.
