The bill will ban the private ownership of big cats and bring an end to the abusive cub petting industry in an effort to enhance the safety of our communities, protect first responders, and safeguard wild animals.

During his visit, Quigley met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, held a meeting with members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (the unicameral parliament of Ukraine), and visited Bucha, Irpin, and other areas near Kyiv, Ukraine.

U.S. Representatives Mike Quigley (D-IL), Vice-Chair of the LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus, Mondaire Jones (D-NY), and Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) sent a letter to President Biden urging the administration to adopt a robust and coordinated federal response to the ongoing monkeypox outbreak. While the United States has ordered almost 7 million vaccine doses, the majority will not arrive for months, sounding alarms that needed doses won't be delivered in time to curb mass infection of communities impacted the most, especially LGBTQ+ Americans.

Today, the House passed funding legislation that included U.S. Representative Mike Quigley's (IL-05) provision to protect abortion access for federal workers and the residents of Washington, D.C. Quigley, Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government, amended his own legislation to include language that would prohibit any federal funds from his bill from being used in contravention to President Biden's executive order on protecting access to reproductive health care.

A provision offered by U.S. Representatives Mike Quigley (IL-05) and Grace Meng (NY-06) to support the prevention of future pandemics was passed by the House of Representatives as part of the FY22 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The amendment is based on Quigley's Preventing Future Pandemics Act, which is aimed at decreasing the demand for wildlife as a food source to help prevent the next pandemic before it starts.
