Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), a member of the House Committee on Appropriations, helped secure more than $3 billion in funding that will go towards accelerating the pace of scientific breakthroughs for diseases such as ALS, Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, and cancer. This funding was included in the fiscal year 2022 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (L-HHS) bill, which was approved by the House Committee on Appropriations today.
Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), Vice-Chair of the LGBT Equality Caucus and a founding member of the Transgender Equality Task Force, led thirty House Democrats in calling for an end to the detention of transgender people and individuals living with HIV. The members also asked ICE to commit to sharing data and information regarding the detention of trans migrants and individuals with HIV on a monthly basis.
Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the Committee on Oversight and Reform, released the following statement after the House of Representatives voted to create a Select Committee to investigate the January 6 attack on the Capitol:

During the call, Quigley raised concerns about the significant mail delays currently experienced by his constituents in many areas of Chicago and pressed DeJoy for solutions to these ongoing issues.

For fiscal year 2022, the draft bill includes $29.1 billion in funding, an increase of $4.8 billion over 2021. The legislation:
The House Appropriations Committee today released the draft fiscal year 2022 Financial Services and General Government funding bill, which will be considered in subcommittee tomorrow. The legislation provides annual funding for the Department of the Treasury, the Judiciary, the Executive Office of the President, and other independent agencies, including the Small Business Administration.
