August 11, 2021

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) participated in a briefing with the City of Chicago and Cook County on the extension of the 606 multiuse trail. Earlier this year, Quigley submitted the 606 trail to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee as one of his Member Designated Projects. It was included in the House-passed INVEST in America Act last month.

U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (D-IL) and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) introduced two bills aimed at improving our nation's power infrastructure and streamlining the regulatory process to help put the country on the path to a sustainable future. The Streamlining Interstate Transmission of Electricity (SITE) Act and the Advanced Energy Technologies and Grid Efficiency Act will create jobs, stimulate the economy, and make critical strides in the transition to clean energy.

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), a member of the House Committee on Appropriations and Chair of the Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee (FSGG), voted to make critical investments in American businesses and families through H.R. 4502, a package to fund the federal government in the next fiscal year.

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) spoke on the floor of the House of Representatives to call attention to child labor usage by the cocoa industry and to thank the Bell Elementary School students who brought this issue to his attention. In June, Quigley held a virtual meeting with students at Alexander Graham Bell School in Chicago, IL. During the visit, the students shared their serious concerns about the use of child labor in West Africa to produce some of their favorite candy products.

Today, U.S. Representatives Mike Quigley (IL-05), co-founder and co-chair of the Congressional Transparency Caucus, and James Comer (KY-01), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, praised the unanimous House passage of their bipartisan, bicameral Access to Congressionally Mandated Reports Act (ACMRA), which will create a single website where Congress and the public can easily search, sort, and download all agency reports to Congress.


July 22, 2021

U.S. Representatives Mike Quigley (IL-05) and Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-04), a member of the House Natural Resources Committee, introduced the Park District Community Support Grant Program this week. This program would allow the Department of Interior to provide up to $100 million to park districts for a variety of projects to support community engagement and preserve and protect historic structures like those at many of Chicago's famous urban parks.

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) released the following statement after Speaker Nancy Pelosi requested that Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy offer replacement appointments for Representatives Jim Jordan and Jim Banks to serve on the January 6 committee:

"There is no place on this committee for unserious members. Speaker Pelosi absolutely made the right decision by rejecting GOP members who have made it clear they would use this platform to grandstand and spew misinformation. In fact, Congressman Banks has already broadcasted his intention to sabotage the proceedings.

Language authored by U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) to bring an end to the use of child labor in the cocoa industry was approved by the House Committee on Appropriations today. The initiative was inspired by a meeting Quigley held with a class at Bell Elementary School. The class shared their report on the use of child labor by the cocoa industry and asked that Quigley act, leading directly to the inclusion of this provision in the FY22 Labor-Health and Human Services bill.
