Quigley Holds Call with Postmaster General Louis DeJoy
U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government, held a call with Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, the chief executive officer of the United States Postal Service (USPS). During the call, Quigley raised concerns about the significant mail delays currently experienced by his constituents in many areas of Chicago and pressed DeJoy for solutions to these ongoing issues.
“As Chairman of FSGG, I had a conversation with Postmaster General DeJoy this week that included relaying the concerns of over 1,000 of my constituents who have contacted me about mail delivery delays this year alone. I shared with him the growing frustrations of Chicagoans and urged him to present fast and effective solutions to these issues,” said Quigley. “I have had concerns about USPS in Chicago – and around the country – for a long time and I remain troubled by the lack of progress thus far. As long as Postmaster General DeJoy holds this position, he has the opportunity to make progress in rectifying these longstanding issues. I hope he does so quickly.”
Has maintained ongoing discussions with local USPS management and earlier this year, Quigley used his position as Chair of FSGG to ask DeJoy about these delays. Since the beginning of the year, Quigley has heard from over 1,000 of his constituents who have been receiving mail only a few times per week, with some going a week or more without any mail delivery at all.
Constituents who are experiencing mail delays can contact Quigley’s Chicago office at (773) 267-5926.
