On Wednesday morning, federal ICE agents violently entered Rayito de Sol daycare and arrested a teacher without a warrant, in front of children and parents. Trump and his deputies claim they are going after the worst of the worst, but they're targeting teachers, painters, laborers, parents, and anyone who fits their profile. I have called for an Inspector General investigation into ICE’s misconduct and will continue to document their egregious behavior until they are held to account.

This week, I led the entire House of Representatives Illinois Democratic delegation in demanding that the Department of Homeland Security launch an investigation into the misconduct of ICE and CBP around Chicagoland. If this administration is going to use the levers of government to attack the innocent, then I’m going to make sure we use every lever of power we get to go after the guilty.

Dozens of individuals – including American citizens – have been detained without judicial warrants, legal notification, or access to legal counsel.

On Friday, ICE was seen throughout IL-05 kidnapping people, detaining U.S. citizens, and tear-gassing residents who dared to challenge ICE’s actions. My entire Chicago staff immediately responded to these reports by contacting ICE and the FBI to initiate inquiries, sharing information about sightings with community leaders and on social media, and providing on-the-ground support in our neighborhoods.
