"I think pardoning Arpaio ["Sheriff Joe"] was a trial balloon," says Congressman Mike Quigley, 5th District, who admitted, in West Town Sunday, that his paranoia about President Trump's actions "beside firing Sessions who would fire Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who would fire special counsel Robert Mueller, is that he would pardon some of these guys [being investigated].

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley visited Heritage Bicycles, a Chicago-based small business that builds American-made custom bicycles, offers repair services, and brews their own coffee. Rep. Quigley toured the store and assisted customers with bicycle maintenance and food orders.

U.S. Reps. Quigley and Lipinski (R-IL) and U.S. Senators Durbin (D-IL) and Duckworth (D-IL) announced that Metra will receive $20,168,000 from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for implementation of Positive Train Control (PTC) safety technology on its Milwaukee North and West lines. PTC is a federally mandated computerized system that prevents certain types of train-to-train collisions, helps avoid derailments and other accidents caused by excessive speed, and increases safety for rail workers.

The visit included a tour of the company’s new Elmhurst facility and a discussion about the infrastructure funding needs of Chicago’s manufacturing and rail sectors.

U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), Vice Chair of the Quiet Skies Caucus, joined his colleagues on a letter to the Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee’s Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development requesting that they include in the subcommittee’s fiscal year 2018 appropriations bill two important provisions to help mitigate airplane noise. The Caucus requested that the Subcommittee “provide funding for health studies on the impact of airplane and helicopter noise on communities and… include report language directing the Federal Aviation Administration to conduct an expedited review of their noise standards.”
