"Today's vote was a critical next step in the House's ongoing investigation into the President of the United States. This resolution provides us with a path forward as we move toward the public phase of the inquiry and provides both Congressional Republicans and the President with rights in these proceedings.

U.S. Representatives Mike Quigley (IL-05) and Doug Collins (GA-09) introduced the Congressional Budget Justification Transparency Act (H.R. 4894), which gives the public access to how the federal government spends taxpayer dollars. This bill would improve government transparency by requiring federal agencies to post their congressional budget justifications on a centralized, searchable website, including each agency's own website.

Today, Congressman Mike Quigley (IL-05), Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02), Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12), Congressman Tom Malinowski (NJ-07), and Congressman Jared Huffman (CA-02) introduced the Protecting Our Conserved Lands Act. This legislation will prevent the use of eminent domain to seize conservation land protected by local governments and nonprofits, like land trusts, for the purpose of constructing natural gas pipelines.

Today, U.S. Representatives Mike Quigley (IL-05) and Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-04) and other Democratic members of the Illinois delegation sent a letter to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in response to HUD's proposed changes to the disparate impact rule. The disparate impact rule is a fundamental tool for enforcing the Fair Housing Act and has played a significant role in addressing structural inequalities in housing and financial markets.

U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) released the following statement after learning of the death of Representative Elijah Cummings (MD-07), Chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform:

"This is a heartbreaking loss for Baltimore, Congress, and our entire country. Chairman Cummings was a giant of this institution and an American patriot. At a time when our country so deeply needs moral guidance, his loss will be felt deeply. I have no doubt that his legacy of fighting for freedom and justice will live on."

Rep. Mike Quigley (IL-05) visited City Clerk of Chicago Anna Valencia's City Hall office this week to receive his CityKey card, a city government-issued ID that also functions as a Chicago library card, Ventra card, and discount card for participating organizations and businesses in the Chicago area. The CityKey program was started in 2017 to provide undocumented and homeless Chicagoans a government-issued ID when they are unable to access other forms of identification.
