Rep. Quigley, who serves as Chairman-designate of the Financial Services Subcommittee on Appropriations, spoke on the House Floor about the impacts of President Trump’s disastrous shutdown and the need to pass legislation to re-open the government.

House Democrats put forth election security legislation with a provision similar to a bill sponsored by Rep. Mike Quigley last Congress.

The cardinal-to-be is North Sider Mike Quigley, who says he believes he will chair the financial services subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee.

Rep. Quigley said, "If you're worried about security, the vast majority of those attempting to cross the border want to be apprehended because they're seeking a status here in the United States. They're not trying to sneak across."

The bill has been referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee. The House version of the bill is in a similar stage. A previous version of the bill, as written by US Rep. Mike Quigley, a Democrat from Illinois, failed to make it through the House in 2017.
