Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) hosted a roundtable at Cook County Domestic Violence Courthouse to discuss efforts at the local and federal level to address and prevent domestic violence. The roundtable was led by Raúl Vega, Acting Presiding Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Domestic Violence Division, and included representatives from Cook County offices dedicated to addressing sexual assault and agencies that provide services to survivors of domestic violence.

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), who serves as Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services & General Government (FSGG), pressed Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on the Trump administration's decision of whether to comply with the House Ways and Means Committee's request for the President's tax returns. Quigley also questioned whether Treasury Department officials have communicated with the White House about requests to release the President's tax returns.

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously approved an amendment authored by U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) to require a review of the relationship between survival of domestic violence and the development of a substance use disorder. U.S. Representative Kendra Horn (OK-05) spoke from the floor of the House in support of the amendment. Quigley's initiative was offered as an amendment to the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2019.

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), who serves as Vice Chair of the LGBT Equality Caucus and Vice Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Housing, pressed U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Ben Carson over his Department's longstanding failure to review LGBT nondiscrimination guidance documents, which the Department removed from their website in early 2017 and formally declined to reinstate on March 6, 2019.

Today, U.S. Representatives Mike Quigley (IL-05), Tom Rice (SC-07), Raja Krishnamoorthi (IL-08), and Guy Reschenthaler (PA-14) introduced legislation to rename the Visa Waiver Program to the Secure Travel Partnership. The Visa Waiver Program allows pre-screened, pre-approved travelers from participating countries to travel to the United States, after undergoing a rigorous Department of Homeland Security approval process, for stays of up to 90 days. Rebranding the program to the Secure Travel Partnership more accurately reflects the mission and security of the program.
