“I strongly condemn Hamas’ assault on Israeli citizens and I unwaveringly maintain Israel’s right to defend itself. It is critical that all civilian and military hostages be immediately returned by Hamas and attacks in Israel must cease immediately. I will continue to closely monitor the developing situation. My thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones in the unacceptable attacks on civilians.”

Today, U.S. Representatives Mike Quigley (D-IL-05), Robin Kelly (D-IL-02), and U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) joined Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Administrator Nuria Fernandez today to announce that the Red Line Extension (RLE) project has entered the engineering phase of FTA’s Capital Investment Grants program, with a $1.947 billion federal funding commitment from the FTA, which is roughly 50 percent of the project’s cost and one of the largest New Starts awards in the history of the program.

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), Ranking Member of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD) Appropriations Subcommittee, and Representatives Brendan Boyle (PA-01), Chrissy Houlahan (PA-06), and Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) responded to Republican attacks on LGBTQI+ Community Funding Projects submitted by Boyle, Houlahan, and Pressley.

Following Republican passage of an amendment to remove these projects, Quigley introduced his own amendment to return them to the bill.
