Today, Congressman Mike Quigley (D-IL) announced Agatha Waranka from Guerin College Preparatory High School as the winner of the 5th District of Illinois' 2010 Congressional Art Competition. Her still life of pears resting on the American flag will hang in the United States Capitol for the next year.

Today, Congressman Mike Quigley (D-IL) delivered the following remarks on the House floor in response to Secretary of Defense Robert Gates asking Congress to wait to repeal the discriminatory policy of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell". The 17-year old edict prohibits openly gay men and women from serving in the military.

"This is an effort that begins to address the needs of not only those who serve, but their families as well."

Measures focus on energy efficiency and more accurate, independent cost estimates.

Today, Congressman Mike Quigley (D-IL) helped pass a measure to block federal lawmakers from receiving automatic pay increases for the 2011 fiscal year. Quigley is an original co-sponsor of the bill and has supported similar legislation in the past.
