Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) co-founder and co-chair of the Congressional Transparency Caucus, re-introduced the Transparency in Government Act to increase access, accountability, and transparency in every branch of the federal government. The legislation would expand financial disclosure requirements for both lawmakers and lobbyists; modernize how the public accesses federal spending information; and improve judicial transparency. Quigley has introduced this legislation each Congress since his first term.

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) declared Chicago the home of the nation’s best pizza following a visit to one of Chicago’s iconic pizzerias. Today, U.S. Representatives Mike Quigley (IL-05) and Michael McCaul (TX-10) introduced a resolution seeking recognition of May 2024 as National Brain Tumor Awareness Month. Each year, tens of thousands of Americans receive a primary brain tumor diagnosis which carries a five-year survival rate of only 36 percent for malignant tumors. Today, more than one million people in the United States are estimated to be living with a primary brain tumor and approximately 94,000 more will be diagnosed in 2024.

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), a member of the House Committee on Appropriations and Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development announced his support for 15 community projects he has submitted for funding consideration for the upcoming fiscal year. The 15 community projects were selected from nearly 70 applications and marks the fourth time members have been able to submit specific community projects for direct funding since 2021.

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), Ranking Member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, joined a bipartisan group of Appropriations Committee Members in a visit to Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse. The group visited the collapse site by boat, were briefed at the U.S. Coast Guard Command Center, and met with local officials to discuss the role of the federal government in assisting with the recovery.

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), Ranking Member on the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee, questioned Acting Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Adrianne Todman during a subcommittee hearing on HUD’s Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Request. Quigley questioned Todman about HUD’s Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery program and how the department is addressing rising homelessness across the country.

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), Ranking Member on the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee, questioned Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg during a subcommittee hearing on the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Request. Quigley questioned Buttigieg about DOT’s Emergency Relief fund in light of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore.
