U.S. Representatives Mike Quigley (IL-05), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Robin Kelly (IL-02), David E. Price (NC-04), Nita Lowey (NY-17), Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) and 141 other members called on House Speaker Paul Ryan and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi to lift the de-facto ban on federal gun violence research.

The National Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) announced their support of the bipartisan NICS Denial Notification Act, H.R. 4320. U.S. Representatives Mike Quigley (IL-05) and Patrick Meehan (PA-07) introduced the bill in January.

A bipartisan bill to ensure state and local law enforcement are notified when a prohibited person tries to buy a gun has been referred to a House subcommittee. The NICS Denial Notification Act of 2016 was sent to the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations on Wednesday.

U.S. Representatives Mike Quigley and Patrick Meehan introduced the bipartisan NICS Denial Notification Act, which will help law enforcement better enforce current gun laws by establishing an alert system to notify state and local law enforcement when criminals break the law attempting to acquire a gun.
