On the five-year anniversary of the Supreme Court’s 5-4 ruling in Citizens United v. FEC, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) joined U.S. Representatives Ted Deutch (FL-21), Donna F. Edwards (MD-04), and Jim McGovern (MA-02) to re-introduce the Democracy for All Amendment.

As chair of the Congressional Transparency Caucus, I urge the justices and their colleagues in the federal judiciary to take a few steps to improve the process. Issues of transparency like these do not require any additional laws, are non-partisan and enjoy broad support from the American people, who in poll after poll say they support various measures to increase transparency at the nation's highest court.

U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) co-introduced the Democracy for All Amendment with 108 cosponsors from the Democratic Caucus. H. J. Res. 119 is the House companion to S. J. Res. 19, the constitutional amendment slated for a historic vote in the U.S. Senate this year.

U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) voted to restore Americans’ privacy rights and pass H.R. 3361, the USA FREEDOM Act: United and Strengthening America by Fulfilling Rights and Ending Eavesdropping, Dragnet Collection, and Online Monitoring Act. Rep. Quigley is an original cosponsor the bill, which ends the government’s bulk collection of phone records and requires increased government oversight and public scrutiny of domestic surveillance programs.
