WGN: Quigley Urges State and Federal Action on Climate Change

Reporter: Congressman Mike Quigley teamed up with civic leaders today along the lakefront and says global warming is lowering lake levels, triggering torrential spring rains and flooding that ruin homes. He says it’s time for federal lawmakers to pass environmental control laws, which his says can actually help the economy.

Rep. Mike Quigley: There's an urgency that we are falling behind now to work on an issue of climate change, that perhaps won't affect us, certainly won't affect us nearly as much as future generations. That is the struggle in congress. That is the struggle at the state and local level.

Reporter: Congressman Quigley praised President Obama’s executive actions, regulating coal burning plants, improving fuel efficiency in cars, boosting mass transit and alternative energy sources.
