Congressional Art Competition

Congressman Quigley is pleased to invite high school students of Illinois’s Fifth Congressional District to participate in the 2025 Congressional Art Competition. Artwork, along with a completed Student Release Form, are due to the Chicago Office, 1925 N. Clybourn, by Wednesday, April 9th at 5:00PM.

Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated.

Students submit entries to their representative’s office, and panels of district artists select the winning entries. Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC. The winning works are displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.

Guidelines

Artwork must be two-dimensional, must be no larger than 26 inches high, 26 inches wide, and 4 inches deep, and weigh no more than 15 pounds. Each entry must be original in concept, design, and execution and not violate U.S. copyright laws.

Accepted mediums include:

  • Paintings
  • Drawings
  • Collages
  • Prints
  • Mixed Media
  • Computer-generated art
  • Photographs

For further information regarding guidelines, please review the 2025 Rules and Regulations for Students and Teachers. If you have any questions regarding these guidelines, please contact my Chicago Office at (773) 267-5926.
