Updates on the Approaching Winter Weather in Chicago

Over the next 24 hours, the entire Midwest - including the Chicago area - is expected to endure a serious winter blizzard. Weather forecasts predict snow accumulations surpassing 20 inches and wind gusts reaching upwards of 60 mph. During this time it is of the utmost importance that we all exercise caution, both inside and outside. Motorists who may need to travel can check the condition of Interstates by calling 1-800-452-IDOT (4368); or by visiting www.gettingaroundillinois.com and clicking on "Winter Road Conditions.

Illinoisans seeking to stay warm may take advantage of more than 120 state facilities that serve as warming centers. For a list of participating centers, please visit www.keepwarm.illinois.gov.
