Quigley Wins Stanley Cup Wager with Boston Congressman and Honors Blackhawks’ Championship with Resolution
WASHINGTON—Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) honored the Chicago Blackhawks and the team's 2013 NHL Stanley Cup Championship by introducing H. Res. 299. He also won Boston area goods in his wager with Rep. Stephen Lynch (MA-08) over the outcome of the Blackhawks vs. Bruins series.
"Congratulations to the greatest team in hockey on being the 2013 Stanley Cup Champions," said Quigley. "The innumerable contributions from every player, coach, and the entire Blackhawks family have brought the madness back to Madison Street and Lord Stanley's Cup back to where it belongs, sweet home Chicago."
As the winner of the wager, Rep. Quigley received clam chowder from Legal Sea Foods and a case of Harpoon beer.
In the name of good sportsmanship, Rep. Quigley provided Rep. Lynch with Eli's Cheesecake and Nuts on Clark from Illinois' 5th District.
"Mr. Lynch is a good sport and a man of his word. I look forward to enjoying these delicious products while watching replays of the Blackhawks' win," said Rep. Quigley. "I hope he enjoys some of the best treats from our district as well and want to thank Eli's Cheesecake and Nuts on Clark for their generous donation."

Rep. Quigley is a die-hard Chicago Blackhawks fan who began playing hockey when he was six years old and still plays regularly when he is back home in the District. He is a co-chair of the Congressional Hockey Caucus, a bipartisan group of Members of Congress dedicated to advocating for the expansion of hockey programs in America. He has worked with the Blackhawks to expand access to floor hockey programs to at-risk youth throughout the Chicago area and to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community through Center on Halsted.
