Quigley Votes No on Republican Continuing Resolution
Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, released the following statement on his vote against the Republican continuing resolution:
“Since Trump assumed office, he has unilaterally cut programs funded by Congress that my constituents in the Illinois Fifth District rely on. Programs to feed families, lower energy costs, provide mental health services to students, help people experiencing homelessness, find new treatments for diseases, and more.
“My demands are clear: (1) Extend health care tax credits, without which millions of Americans will see their already expensive health care costs skyrocket; (2) Restore Medicaid funding to ensure 300,000 people in Illinois don’t lose health care coverage; and (3) Respect for the law that says elected Members of Congress - not a President-Turned-King - should decide how their tax dollars are spent.
“This is a pivotal time in our history. We must stand up against this wannabe-king.”
