Quigley Visits Ukraine on Bipartisan CODEL

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), Co-Chair of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus, returned from a visit to Ukraine where he met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The trip comes at a critical time as Congress considers additional aid for Ukraine and other global crises. Quigley’s visit showcased the importance of U.S. and NATO support for Ukraine and emphasized the additional resources needed to ensure Ukraine’s victory. Quigley was part of a bipartisan CODEL with Representatives French Hill (AR-02) and Stephen Lynch (MA-08).
The members arrived in Poland before journeying to Ukraine where they met with President Zelenskyy. During their meeting, they heard from Zelenskyy on the latest frontline developments and key defense needs. They also discussed priority areas for further American defense and security support.
“Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine began a year and a half ago. In that time, the world has watched a tyrant wage an unjust war against a free and democratic country. The United States and our allies have responded in full force, providing Ukraine with critical aid that’s allowed them to make significant gains over the Russian army. Unfortunately, over recent months support for Ukraine has dwindled. Some of my colleagues have forgotten why this fight is so important and what it means for the global order. We cannot give up on Ukraine,” said Quigley. “In my meeting with President Zelenskyy, I assured him that will not happen. I reminded him that Ukraine’s fight is also ours; that Ukraine’s victory is critical to the security of other vulnerable democracies around the world. We must continue to provide assistance so that Putin is defeated. I am hopeful that this visit will show Putin and the rest of the world that our support is not conditional and is not waning – it is stronger than ever.”
