Quigley to Host Small Business & Jobs Fair Events

April 4, 2012

CHICAGO - U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) will host two community events during April to address the economic needs of constituents in his district. The first event (April 13) focuses on connecting small business owners with government programs and resources, while the second event (April 24) will provide job seekers with employment opportunities, job training, and placement programs.

"As our economy moves forward, there are many resources available for employers who want to expand as well as job seekers who need assistance," said Congressman Quigley. "I hope many constituents will take advantage of these opportunities to connect with valuable resources and achieve their goals."

On Friday, April 13, Rep. Quigley will host a Small Business Fair to provide easy access to government resources for local businesses. The event will take place from 9am to 12pm at the Chicago Academy, located at 3400 N. Austin Avenue on Chicago's northwest side.

The fair will feature two panels, both of which require an RSVP due to limited seating. One panel will focus on the various government programs and resources available to small businesses. The second panel discusses how and where small businesses can obtain funding and features representatives from Community Bankers Association, ACCION, and SCORE.

Government representatives will also be on hand from 22 agencies, including Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protections, Cook County Assessor, Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Development, IRS, SBA and several Chambers of Commerce.

The event is free, but seating is limited and registration is required to attend the panels. To RSVP, please call Congressman Quigley's office at 773-267-5926 or click here. More information is available by clicking here.

On Tuesday, April 24, Rep. Quigley will host a One-Stop Job & Resource Fair from 10am to 1pm at Northeastern Illinois University's Student Union, located at 5500 N. St. Louis Avenue in Chicago.

During the event job seekers can learn about employment opportunities from numerous government agency representatives and employers from various industries. The fair will also feature job training and placement programs, as well as break-out sessions on resume writing, interviewing, and networking skills.

The event is free and open to the public. More information is available by clicking here and a list of participating employers will be updated online throughout the month of April.
