Quigley Statement on Ukrainian President Zelenskyy’s Joint Address to Congress
Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), a co-chair of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus, released the following statement after attending Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's virtual joint address to Congress:
"I have been moved by every one of President Zelenskyy's speeches – but none more so than today. President Zelenskyy has made a stirring plea for the future of his country. The United States should heed that call.
"As President Zelenskyy said today, Ukrainians are fighting for the very values America stands for: freedom, democracy, and independence. We must aid them in that fight. It is time for the United States and NATO to get Ukraine the assistance they need. We must stop quibbling over logistics and get fighter jets to Ukraine and protect the skies over humanitarian corridors. If we cannot do that, we should at the very least impose the sanctions President Zelenskyy requested today.
"To quote President Zelenskyy: ‘to be the leader of the world means to be the leader of peace.'
"It's time for action."
