QUIGLEY STATEMENT ON SPECIAL COUNSEL MUELLER’S REPORT

March 22, 2019

CHICAGO — Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), who serves on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, released the following statement following notification from the Department of Justice that Special Counsel Mueller has submitted his report to the Attorney General:

"The House unanimously agreed that the American people deserve to see Special Counsel Mueller's report in its entirety. Anything less than full transparency is unacceptable, especially if Mueller has any reason to believe that the President, or any of his close associates, have engaged in any wrongdoing. Furthermore, given the Department of Justice's position that a sitting president is immune from indictment, Congress is the only institution that has the ability to hold the President accountable for any potential criminal misconduct. Therefore, it is imperative that Congress also receives the underlying evidence uncovered during the Mueller investigation so the public can have confidence knowing that we will continue to investigate and hold all those involved in efforts to undermine our democracy accountable for their actions."
