Quigley Statement on Republican Budget Resolution

January 13, 2017

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), member of the House Appropriations Committee, released the following statement in opposition to House Republicans' 2017 budget resolution:

"The Fiscal Year 2017 Republican budget resolution represents partisan politics at its worst. Instead of offering a pro-growth budget that prioritizes funding in areas that grow our communities, such as infrastructure, education, and research and development, Republicans have elected to pave the way for the repeal of the Affordable Care Act. Despite the fact that there is currently no replacement plan in place, my colleagues across the aisle seem to be more concerned with dismantling President Obama's legacy than they are with the 30 million Americans that will lose their health insurance if ACA is repealed. The American people deserve better than this, and I stand ready to work with Members in both parties to find fiscally responsible solutions that expand high-quality, affordable health care."
