Rep Quigley talks to local experts about the affects of climate change.

WASHINGTON -- Today, U.S. Representatives Mike Quigley released the following statement regarding President Obama's plan to address climate change:

"I commend the President for addressing the very real issue of climate change, which Congress has ignored for far too long. We have a responsibility to tackle the costly effects of climate change now, not leave them to our children to figure out down the road. Bringing the public and private sectors together to establish new emissions standards and reduce carbon pollution will help preserve our natural resources for years to come."

Rep. Quigley recently hosted a Climate Tour in Chicago to hear from experts on the local impact of climate change and work being done to address the issue at the community level. He saw the effects of climate change firsthand when flooding from extreme storms devastated portions of both Cook and DuPage counties earlier this year. He has consistently reiterated support for strong EPA regulation authority by voting against anti-regulatory and anti-environment legislation.
