Quigley Statement on Kremlin Announcement of Ukrainian Invasion

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) released a statement after the Kremlin published decrees ordering the invasion of Ukraine:

"Let me be clear—no matter what pretext they may claim, today the Kremlin ordered an invasion of Ukraine. Donetsk and Luhansk are part of Ukraine, not Russian fiefdoms. Any deployment of troops to those regions is an unprovoked violation of an independent nation's territorial sovereignty the likes of which we have not seen since World War II.

"I have been clear from the beginning that there are no ‘minor' incursions into Ukraine. The Biden administration and the entire western world must immediately and unequivocally condemn this invasion with a swift and firm response."
