Quigley Statement on Confirmation of B. Todd Jones as New ATF Director
WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) released the following statement following the Senate's confirmation of B. Todd Jones as director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF):
"I am thrilled that after seven years the ATF has finally found permanent and stable leadership in B. Todd Jones, a man with a proven commitment to commonsense gun policies that keep Americans safe. This is an incredibly important moment in the fight against gun violence and gun trafficking. I look forward to working together with Mr. Jones on measures that keep dangerous weapons out of the hands of dangerous people."
Rep. Quigley is a vocal advocate for commonsense gun law reforms and believes Chicago's gun violence demands a federal response. He is author of the TRACE Act, which cracks down on the illegal gun market by improving gun tracking data. He has called on Congress to stand up to the gun lobby in America and supports President Obama's proposals to reduce and prevent gun violence.
