Quigley Statement on Biden Pardon Decision

U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) released the following statement on President Biden’s decision to issue a pardon for his son, Hunter Biden:

“I would not approve of this use of presidential power by Donald Trump and I will not withhold my criticism just because Joe Biden is a member of my own party. For years, I have reminded the public that no one is above the law. Not presidents, not former presidents, and not the children of presidents. I understand President Biden’s concern that the prosecution of his son on rarely pursued charges was politically motivated. Nonetheless, Hunter Biden is guilty of criminal acts and should be held accountable for his actions. As a father, I can understand the President’s motivations but feeling justified and being right are not the same.”
