Quigley Statement on Biden Nomination of Shalanda Young as OMB Director

November 24, 2021

U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government, released the following statement on President Biden's nomination of Acting Office of Management and Budget Director and former Appropriations Committee Clerk and Staff Director Shalanda Young as the permanent Director:

"I have had the pleasure of working with Acting Director Young for many years during her time with the Appropriations Committee and for the last several months at OMB. Through that experience, I can say with confidence that President Biden has selected an experienced, dedicated, and deeply respected leader for OMB. In a time of heightened partisanship, Acting Director Young distinguished herself as a staffer with the Committee by earning the respect of members from both sides of aisle through her wide-ranging knowledge and her ability to build strong relationships. I am certain that her nomination will receive broad bipartisan support in the Senate and I look forward to continuing to work with Acting Director Young to continue our nation's recovery from the coronavirus and to deliver policy priorities that improve the lives of every American."
