Quigley Statement on the 20th Anniversary of the September 11 Terrorist Attacks
Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), released the following statement to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks:
“Twenty years ago, a heinous terrorist attack took thousands of innocent lives and changed the course of our nation forever. In our shared shock and horror, we came together as one without regard for class, creed, or political affiliation. Even now, when we often feel more divided than ever, the entire country still stands together in grief for the lives lost on September 11, 2001. To all those who lost a loved one on that day- my heart is with you. Please know that the entire country still mourns alongside you.
“As the war in Afghanistan comes to a long-awaited close, we also remember the service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the War on Terror. In the wake of unspeakable tragedy, a generation devoted themselves to military service to protect and defend the United States. Today and every day, I am grateful for their service.”
