Quigley Releases Appropriations Programmatic Requests for Fiscal Year 2015

May 16, 2014

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) released the list of programmatic requests he submitted this year for the Fiscal Year 2015 Appropriations process. Programmatic requests convey support for funding of broad programs within a given federal agency.

“In my position on the Appropriations Committee, I’ve been proud to fight for smart investments in federal programs that strengthen our country and drive critical federal funding to the Chicago area,” said Rep. Quigley. “As the House begins to consider the 12 Appropriations bills that will fund our government for the next fiscal year, I want to ensure that we are responsibly guiding tax dollars to the programs that truly need support. Each request I made represents a crucial investment that will help grow the Chicago economy, create jobs, and build stronger communities.”

Since his appointment to the Appropriations Committee in 2013, Rep. Quigley has released his programmatic requests annually as part of his commitment to good government reform and making the appropriations process more transparent.

Earlier this year, Rep. Quigley used his position during the 2014 Appropriations process to advocate for funding for transportation, infrastructure and public safety programs in the 2014 Consolidated Appropriations Act that strengthen the Chicago area economy, create jobs and increase safety in local communities.

Below are Rep. Quigley’s FY15 programmatic requests, which are listed in alphabetical order within each subcommittee:

Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies

Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, and Science

Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense

Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water

Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government

Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security

Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies

Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies

Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veteran Affairs, and Related Agencies

Appropriations Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs

Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development and Related Agencies

Rep. Quigley was appointed to the House Committee on Appropriations at the start of the 113th Congress. He is the only Illinois member currently serving on the committee, which is responsible to approving the federal government’s annual spending levels for nearly all federal programs. He is the author of Reinventing Government: The Federal Budget, a report which offers 60 recommendations to save $2 trillion over the next 10 years, and co-founder of the bipartisan Congressional Transparency Caucus, which seeks to enact legislation that will bring openness and accessibility to the federal government.
