Quigley Releases Appropriations Programmatic Requests
WASHINGTON—Today, U.S. Representatives Mike Quigley (IL-05) released the list of programmatic requests he submitted this week for the Fiscal Year 2014 Appropriations process. Programmatic requests convey support for funding of broad programs within a given agency.
"Each year Congress has the monumental responsibility of deciding how best to spend taxpayer dollars," said Rep. Quigley. "I'm humbled to take on a greater leadership role in the budget process through my new position on the Appropriations Committee. The requests I have made represent strong and meaningful investments that I believe will strengthen America and protect the most vulnerable among us."
Below are Rep. Quigley's FY14 programmatic requests, which are listed in alphabetical order within each subcommittee:
Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, and Science
Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense
Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water
Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government
Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security
Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies
Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies
Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veteran Affairs, and Related Agencies
Appropriations Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs
Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development and Related Agencies
Rep. Quigley was appointed to the House Committee on Appropriations at the start of the 113th Congress. Guided by principles of the Simpson-Bowles budget alternative, Rep. Quigley has led a push for a "3B Budget Plan" that is bipartisan, achieves big deficit reduction, and balances spending cuts with tax reform. He is the author of Reinventing Government: The Federal Budget, a report which offers 60 recommendations to save $2 trillion over the next 10 years, and co-founder of the Transparency Caucus, which seeks to enact legislation that will bring openness and accessibility to the federal government.
