Quigley Questions Transportation Secretary on Future of Public Transportation
Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) questioned Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg about the future of public transportation during a hearing held by the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development. Quigley’s questions came during a hearing on the FY2022 Budget Request for the Department of Transportation and the American Jobs Plan.
Quigley and Buttigieg discussed the need for federal support for public transportation in Chicago and around the country in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Quigley also questioned Buttigieg about how the Department of Transportation and local governments can ensure that the future of public transit is strong and reliable for all users.
