Quigley Meets with Constituents at Neighborhood Festivals

August 8, 2011

CHICAGO -- Home after several weeks of votes, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) spent last weekend touring neighborhood street festivals, meeting with his constituents, and enjoying food from local restaurants. Quigley worked up an appetite on Saturday morning, pitching in at a workday to help clean-up Montrose Point. He then headed to the popular Retro on Roscoe festival, where he joined State Representative Ann Williams to speak with neighbors.

Quigley left Roscoe Village and headed west for Elmwood Park, where he and Village Mayor Pete Silvestri conducted a "bipartisan tasting" of some of the area's restaurants.

"It's truly an honor to serve our district in Washington, but they just don't know how make a decent hot dog or slice of pizza out there," said Quigley. "Kidding aside, I love coming home and want people to know that I'm accessible and eager to listen to their concerns. The neighborhood groups do a terrific job organizing street festivals, which are a great way to stay connected with the community."
