December 2, 2011
WASHINGTON - Yesterday, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) met the newly appointed Ambassador of India to the United States, Nirupama Rao, during a reception hosted by the Indian Embassy, in conjunction with the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans.

"India is a diverse and complex nation and a vital international partner to the United States," said Rep. Quigley. "The importance of India to America's economy and national security cannot be overestimated. Ambassador Rao's expertise and knowledge will no doubt play an important role in further developing U.S.-India relations.

Rep. Quigley, a member of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans, is currently serving his second term in the House of Representatives, where he sits on the House Committees on the Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform.
