Quigley Honors Local Veterans' World War II Service

October 29, 2009

WASHINGTON Yesterday, Representative Quigley joined 83 World War II veterans from Chicago at the World War II Memorial to commemorate and celebrate their service and dedication to their country.

The trip was made possible by Honor Flight Chicago, a non-profit organization that raises money to fly World War II veterans to the memorial. Since its inception in 2008, Honor Flight has given 775 veterans the opportunity to visit Washington, D.C., free of charge.

"Our veterans bravely put themselves in harm's way for our country, and we must continue to recognize and thank them for everything they've done for each and every one of us,"said Quigley. "Meeting with these men at the monument dedicated to their sacrifice was a humbling privilege and a testament to the work being done by Honor Flight."
