April 11, 2014

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Wednesday, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) received the American Bar Association’s ABA Justice Award for his leadership on criminal justice issues and promoting access to our justice system.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by the American Bar Association for our efforts to advance the promise of justice for everyone,” said Rep. Quigley. “I’ve been proud to fight for funding for the Federal Defender Program and Legal Services Corporation to ensure that every American can access the assistance they need to navigate our complex legal system, and I look forward to continuing this work together.”

Rep. Quigley’s Justice Award recognizes his efforts to support funding for legal aid, expand protections for victims of domestic violence in the Violence Against Women Act, and his opposition to tax proposals that would have overly burdened small businesses that use cash accounting methods. Before becoming a Cook County Commissioner and a Member of Congress, Rep. Quigley was a practicing attorney for almost 20 years.
