Quigley Enjoys Slew of End-of-Year Wins
In December alone, Biden signs two Quigley bills into law, $16.5 million headed to IL-05
U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) led several of his top priorities across the finish line in the closing weeks of 2022. On the final legislative day of the year, Quigley secured more than $16.5 million in funding for local community projects and saw President Joe Biden sign his bill the Access to Congressionally Mandated Reports Act into law as part of the National Defense Authorization Act. Earlier in December, Quigley's Big Cat Public Safety Act was passed by the Senate and was also signed into law by the President.
"I work hard every day for the people of my district and I am always proud to see some of my community's top priorities gain support in Congress. This year was particularly fulfilling as I saw the President approve more than $26.8 million in total for our district and more than six of my bills signed into law," said Quigley. "In one of the most partisan periods in our nation's history, it is still possible to find common ground and make real progress for our nation. As we look ahead to the new year and a divided Congress, I am eager to get to work and have another successful session for my constituents."
These end-of-year successes capped a highly productive year for Quigley on behalf of Illinois' Fifth District. Quigley's 2022 accomplishments included:
- Willie O'Ree Congressional Gold Medal Act signed into law
- Securing more than $10 million for IL-05 in the FY22 funding package
- NICS Denial Notification Act signed into law
- Taking action to protect abortion access
- Leading his seventh Climate Change Tour to Yosemite National Park
- Visiting Ukraine and meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
