Quigley Chairs House Passage of Resolution Supporting Ukraine

March 2, 2022

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), co-chair of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus, presided over the House of Representatives during the passage of H Res 956. The resolution affirms the United States' support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity amid the Russian invasion. Specifically, it declares that the House of Representatives will not recognize or support any illegitimate Russian-controlled leader or government installed through the use of force.

"I was proud to chair the House of Representatives as we passed this important resolution sending the message that we stand with Ukraine. The people of Ukraine must be able to choose their own leadership through a free and fair democratic process—and the U.S. will not stand by and allow that right to be taken from them," said Quigley. "This is not the end of American efforts to support Ukraine in their fight for freedom. I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues to pass legislation to send crucial additional military and humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine and to punish Vladimir Putin for his war crimes. Slava Ukraini."
