Quigley Announces State Senator Sara Feigenholtz as State of the Union Guest

February 7, 2023

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) announced State Senator Sara Feigenholtz as his guest to President Joe Biden's State of the Union on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. Feigenholtz has represented the 6th district in the Illinois Senate since 2020 and previously served in the Illinois House of Representatives.

"Sara Feigenholtz has been a friend and colleague for decades. She is a fighter who has spent her time in public service committed to protecting women's reproductive freedom across Illinois," said Quigley. "It's imperative that leaders in Washington, D.C. are aligned with local leaders so the policies we pursue at both levels work together to meet the needs of our constituents. I've been proud to work alongside Sara during our time in elected office and, as we navigate a post-Roe America, I look forward to working closely with her to ensure Illinois continues to be a safe haven for access to abortion and contraception."

Throughout her career, Feigenholtz has been a tireless advocate for health care affordability and access. In 2017, she sponsored House Bill 40 in the 100th General Assembly to protect abortion access in Illinois, ensuring that choice remains the law of the land in the state despite the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade. Feigenholtz also passed the affordable care act in Illinois, enabling thousands of uninsured and underinsured people to have access to healthcare in the state.
