Windy City Times: Quigley vice chair of equality caucus

U.S. Congressman Mike Quigley ( D-Ill. ) was appointed vice chair of the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus for the 114th Congress, according to a press release.

"As an active member of the Equality Caucus since I was elected to Congress, it has been an honor to advocate for the LGBT community on issues ranging from marriage equality and immigration reform to blood donation policies and ENDA," said Quigley. "I look forward to furthering my efforts in this new capacity as vice chair to ensure all LGBT Americans have equal access to the rights and benefits they deserve."

The six open LGBT members of the House of Representatives—Jared Polis ( D-Colo. ), David Cicilline ( D-R.I. ), Sean Patrick Maloney ( D-N.Y. ), Mark Pocan ( D-Wis. ), Kyrsten Sinema ( D-Ariz. ) and Mark Takano ( D-Calif. )—co-chair the caucus.

The returning vice chairs of the Caucus are Reps. Jerrold Nadler ( D-N.Y. ), Diana DeGette ( D-Colo. ), Barbara Lee ( D-Calif. ), Mike Honda ( D-Calif. ), and Adam Schiff ( D-Calif. ). The five other new vice chairs include Reps. Ted Deutch ( D-Fla. ), Dan Kildee ( D-Mich. ), Alan Lowenthal ( D-Calif. ), Ruben Gallego ( D-Ariz. ) and Ted Lieu ( D-Calif. ).
