Recapping Rep. in the Rockies and President Trump’s Withdrawal from the Paris Agreement

Dear Friend,

This week, I traveled to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado to see the ways that climate change is already impacting our most precious natural spaces firsthand and learn more about the important relationship between climate, science and research. The ability to hike the trails, walk alongside the water, see endangered species up close, and speak with the leading scientists and researchers who have made addressing man-made climate change their life's work was incredibly eye-opening and informative. The consequences of climate change are dire, and if left unchallenged, will continue to threaten our public health, national security, and economic activity.

Ironically enough, during my #RepInTheRockies visit, President Trump made the reckless and indefensible decision to abdicate our long-held position as a leader on climate action by withdrawing our participation in the historic Paris Agreement. My visit only underscored the critical importance of this international pact to protect our planet. Regardless of President Trump's withdrawal, I will keep working with the concerned citizens, advocates, business leaders, and elected officials around the world who remain more committed than ever to create a more sustainable earth for future generations.

It is easy to see the impacts of climate change in one of our National Parks, but the devastation caused by climate change is evident right in our own backyards. We need to support forward-thinking, research-based efforts that can address these threats. We can't afford to waste any more time.

Sincerely,

Mike Quigley
