Dear Friends,

It's that time of year again, when property tax bills are appearing in your mailbox. Because many of you have seen the assessed value of your home go down or stay the same, an increased property tax bill may understandably cause sticker shock.

We're here to help.

While property taxes are not administered by the federal government, we're always looking for ways to streamline and make government services at all levels more accessible to you.

With that in mind, you will be able to get many of your questions answered under one roof next week when I team up with Cook County Commissioner John Fritchey and his staff for a joint service opportunity at my district office:

Wednesday, October 19th
1:00pm to 4:00pm
3742 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago

Commissioner Fritchey's team will be able assist you with your property tax bill, exemption applications, and other County services (like the health system, Sheriff's office, or Forest Preserve).

Be sure to bring along as much paperwork as possible for the most productive visit.

While you're here, as always, my staff will be on hand to assist you with any Federal agency issues or questions you might have, including Medicare, Social Security, veterans' benefits, passports and visas, housing and more. Spanish and Polish speaking staff members will be available. (Hablamos español. Mowimy po polsku.)

And don't forget: I'm hosting a Senior Fair on Thursday, October 20th and a Foreclosure Assistance Fair with Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer on Saturday, October 29th. These are a great way to get assistance on any number of issues you might be facing, and I hope everyone takes advantage of the opportunities.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if there is anything with which we can assist. It is an honor to serve you in the United States Congress.

Sincerely,

Mike Quigley
