Catching Up With Quigley: Week of November 28

E-Newsletters

Dear Friends,

I hope you had a good week. I wanted to offer a quick summary of the work I did this week while in our district.

1. Celebrated Halloween with Local Community Groups

A man in a red shirt and a Cubs baseball cap stands behind a table with literature on it and a blue table cloth that says "Mike Quigley". The man is Mike Quigley. He is talking to a woman who stands on the other side of the table. They are in a park with trees behind them.

On Sunday, I attended Lincoln Central Association’s Howler at Bauler event! I passed out Halloween candy and talked with community members about the resources and assistance our office can provide. On Monday, I attended Southport's Trick or Treat festival, where the streets were packed with little ghouls and goblins showing off their costumes. Our candy bowl ran dry in no time! Events like these offer important time with constituents, allowing us to connect on a personal level. It’s always great to hear their concerns and suggestions firsthand, and these interactions help strengthen our community ties. Plus, it’s a fun way to celebrate the season together!

2. Helped Secure Funding for Chicago Rail Service

As the Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development, I prioritize improving the safety and efficiency of our rail systems. I was pleased to see Amtrak and its Midwestern partners receive up to $300 million for various projects aimed at enhancing passenger rail service. This newly announced funding will benefit not only Chicagoans but millions of Americans nationwide. I’m proud to collaborate with Amtrak and my colleagues on the Appropriations Committee to direct funding like these grants toward projects in our region. Together, we can ensure that our transportation infrastructure meets the needs of all travelers and supports economic growth.
