Catching Up With Quigley: Week of March 25
Dear Friend,
I hope you have had a good week. I wanted to take a moment to share what I've been doing during the district work period.
1. Know Your Reproductive Rights

As we face an unprecedented reproductive health care crisis nationwide, I want you to know that I stand with you. This week, I'm proud to debut a new page on our website that provides extensive resources and about your reproductive rights in Illinois.
Going forward, I will continue to do everything I can to protect access to reproductive services and safeguard women’s rights.

2. Joined Meet the Press NOW
On Monday, I joined Meet the Press NOW to discuss a potential effort to vacate the Speaker of the House. I emphasized that it is critical we not waste any more time on partisan bickering and political theater. These distractions prevent us from fulfilling our duties and are not why the American people sent us to Congress. We must focus on the pressing matters before us—particularly protecting democracy in Ukraine and avoiding a larger global conflict.

3. Explored the Impacts of Climate Change

As Co-Chair of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition, it is critical that I see firsthand how climate change is impacting our planet. I’ve led Climate Change Tours of our National Parks and conducted a local tour in Chicago. This week, I traveled to Puerto Rico to hear from experts about the situation on the ground and the plans they have to mitigate extreme weather events.
Why Puerto Rico? Studies have shown that Puerto Rico’s population is among the largest in the world who believe climate change should be a high government priority. During our visit, I met with the Army Corps of Engineers to see projects keeping communities safe from rising sea levels, visited with groups working to protect Puerto Rico's lands of high ecological value, and visited El Yunque National Forest, which is the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System. It was incredible to explore Purto Rico, meet the Iguacas (also known as the Puerto Rican parrot), and hear from the Forest Service about the ways they are protecting the important diversity found in El Yunque.
