Catching Up With Quigley: Week of January 6
Dear Friend,
This was the first full week of the 119th Congress and I'm as dedicated to standing up for you as ever. Here is some of what I did on your behalf in Washington, D.C. this week.
1. Called for an Arab-led peacekeeping force in Gaza

I am calling for the immediate establishment of a peacekeeping force, composed of Arab states, to help restore order in the Gaza Strip. It is imperative that this brutal war comes to an end so the remaining hostages are released. But we cannot wait until this war ends for humanitarian aid to be widely distributed in Gaza. A peacekeeping force is the only way for this aid to enter and reach the people who desperately need it. The global community must work with Israeli and Arab governments to stem the violence in the region and work towards a peaceful future for Palestinians and Israelis.
I hope you'll read my full statement on this important matter HERE.
2. Criticized Meta for Ending Third-Party Fact-Checking

This week, Meta - the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and Threads - announced that they will stop using third-party fact-checkers on their platforms. This is a clear effort by Mark Zuckerberg and Meta to appease Trump before he has even taken office. Trump and Republicans have routinely complained about fact-checking on social media because the spread of misinformation and conspiracy theories have usually worked to their advantage. We should ask ourselves if Mr. Zuckerberg would have made this decision if Donald Trump had lost the election.

3. Talked with CNN About Trump's Early Goals
On Tuesday, I joined CNN's Kate Bolduan to discuss my concerns about some of Trump's cabinet picks, his early goals for his new administration, and Meta's decision to end third-party fact-checking. I shared my concerns about Tulsi Gabbard's fitness to serve as Director of National Intelligence and why my time on the Intelligence Committee means I'm concerned about the spread of misinformation on social media.
