Catching Up With Quigley: Week of February 26
Dear Friend,
I hope you've had a good week. I wanted to share some important updates on my work over the past few days while in Washington and in our district.
1. Supported a Bill to Protect IVF Access

On Wednesday, I cosponsored the Access to Family Building Act, H.R. 7056. If signed into law, this bill would protect the right to access in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and other assisted reproductive technology services nationwide. Specifically, it would establish a right to access IVF for all Americans. I was proud to show my support for this legislation as a response to the ruling out of the Alabama Supreme Court, which granted personhood to embryos and put a halt to IVF across the state. This ruling now threatens IVF, abortion, birth control, and other forms of reproductive health care nationwide. In Congress, I will always fight for one's freedom to control their own bodies, lives, and futures.
2. Visited a Local Ukrainian Business

Chicago is home to thousands of Ukrainian Americans, many of whom have opened successful businesses in the 5th District. One of those businesses is Soloway Coffee in Lincoln Park. Soloway's owners, Artur and Iriyna Yuzvik, met in Ternopil, Ukraine where they later opened two cafes. Here in Chicago, Soloway has maintained a close connection to its roots, roasting its coffee beans in Ukraine and shipping them to the U.S. I sat down with them to discuss how Congress can support small businesses and to learn about the friends and family they still have in Ukraine. I assured them we won't give up until their loved ones are free.
3. Joined CNN Newsroom on Sunday Night
On Sunday night, I joined CNN to reflect on two years since Putin's brutal invasion of Ukraine. We discussed everything from updated Ukrainian military death tolls, the path forward for more aid and the fate of the war should further aid be stalled. I also emphasized an important point regarding our assistance: About 60 percent of the $113 billion in aid for Ukraine will actually be spent here, bolstering U.S. defense and industries. These are investments that pay a return – for us and for the future of the free world for generations to come.
